A hallmark of classic colognes,
That burst of clean, fresh—bergamot!
As a top note, very well known;
Though citrus, edible it’s not.
It greets the nose with zing and zest
From tops of fragrance pyramids.
Then, after a half-hour at best,
Heart notes tell you that it’s vanished.
With many hearts it’s played, and well—
The florals, spices, fruits, and greens
All vouch that bergamot is swell
In perfume, as in Earl Grey tea.
Lovely post!
