Fake Flower’s Fool

I have a confession to make.

I don’t like any flowers fake!

Though I’m impressed when they can get

The textures right, the details set.

Usually, when flowers I see

I take a look more carefully

To confirm whether they are real

‘Ere I indulge olfactory zeal.

These yellow flowers in a pot

Were so pretty that I forgot.

I leaned in close and deeply sniffed—

No smell! They’re fake!—I felt so miffed.

Could they not at least have put on

Some floral perfume for this con?

If they devise to fool my eyes,

My nose should like a comfort prize!
