Perfumed Alphabet: J is for Jasmolactone

Yesterday’s warm milk

Left white streaks in the bottle

My stomach rumbles

Jasmolactone is, as its name may suggest, a floral lactone. It tends to smell less floral by itself than densely buttery, like a very rich pastry with concentrated milk. A shortbread, perhaps. It’s a bit fruity around the edges, as lactones can be. It can enhance creamy, floral notes in a perfume, but not to go beyond 1% maximum concentration in a blend.
