Funny, I’ve recently noticed the urge to collate the memorable moments of others and remind them, but not so much for myself. So, I won’t be doing much of a retrospective on this year. As I’m fighting a nasty cold, I don’t plan to wear any new perfume tomorrow lest my perception of it gets distorted, so I can safely say that this year, I wore 110 unique scents from 62 different brands. Definitely sampled less and enjoyed what I own more, although I also fell into the trap of wearing things just because I wanted to use them up.
This winter holiday was spent visiting extended family in New Mexico, which was lovely as everyone was able to gather multiple times, something that’s quite rare. I also spent a lot of time shamelessly glued to their dogs, especially this Bullmastiff (mix), Dezzie. The last chance I got to see her for any significant amount of time was 9 years ago, when she had dark fur—now she’s about 11 years old and has whitened out!
It wasn’t a trip for fragrant finds, but I did happen across the largest collection of Bourjois Evening in Paris that I’ve ever seen in an antique store. They had the eau de toilette, cologne, toilet water, and various other formulations in every shape and size.
I didn’t buy any of those as the fragrance isn’t really to my taste, but I did buy a glass ornament shaped like a long bell with an even longer stem. The store owners didn’t know what it was for either, but I figured I could use it to concentrate scents from smelly objects.
Wishing all a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!

I saw in your comment that you’re feeling better, so I’m glad you’re back to joys of perfume.
I knew that dogs get grey hair as they age, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen (or at least noticed) such an extensive change!
Evening in Paris dominated shelves of at least a couple of antique stores I visited in the past. It must have been very popular and/or accessible in the past.

I’d seen white whiskers on dogs, but never such a dramatic change either—I had to go back to the old photos to believe it!

I hope you feel better soon, Nose Prose. There’s nothing worst that having a nasty cold when you’re trying to enjoy your perfumes.
I just love antiquing, because you’ll never know what you will find. I’m glad you got the chance to connect with family in New Mexico. I love the southern part of the state, and use to travel there a lot. Not so much anymore. Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!

Thanks—I’m glad to have another couple of days to rest! Antiquing is fun, although I don’t often end up buying anything. Happy New Year!

I’ve seen glasses like that in sets but I cannot remember what they were for or didn’t have feet. They were held buy in an arched glass holder.

They could be some sort of vases? Or I could drink champagne from it and never put it down…

That’s it they were in a larger glass vessel & were indeed glasses to drink from but I cannot remember what. Bubbly would be a great idea
