Freedom from arbitrary perfume wearing!

strangelove meltmyheart perfume oil

Today marks the end of my 2026 project of wearing a different perfume that I own each day, with a few designated exceptions and about two weeks of interruptions, as I’d anticipated. The project helped relieve some decision fatigue (it’s real!), but I’m relieved it’s finished. The perfume oil version of meltmyheart by strangelove got to perform the closing ceremony. This chocolatey iris is my idea of quiet luxury (not beige at all, thankyouverymuch!), warming up with body heat and lasting all day, staying close.

Now, what am I going to do with all this freedom to wear whichever fragrance I want?!

As a result of revisiting all my bottles and minis, I got comfortable letting go of a few. I called my local charity shop to make sure they would take donations of perfume (as not all do) and was thrilled when they said they would. I hope these perfumes make someone’s day and don’t go to waste. None were expensive, and most were purchased because I liked the look of the bottle or because I had read about them and didn’t have an easy way of trying before buying. A couple were nostalgic in the form of “ones that got away” many years ago, and after several wears, I have realized that I wasn’t entirely wrong in letting them get away back when they were new.

I’m looking forward to enjoying my more right-sized collection. Discovery is always on the table!

  1. Well done, you! I started this process a while ago and then got distracted. You know how it is. Having read your post, I’ve put aside a few from my collection to go through. So thank you for the re-inspiration.

  2. I’m on a similar journey, Nose Prose, and I’m about a quarter of the way through. I’ve already sold several of my outcasts, and there are four more waiting for a buyer. What I’m discovering is that I don’t really have many that are “just not for me.” Congratulations on your successful outcome!

    1. I figured your journey would be much longer, Flaconneur. 🙂 That’s great that you’ve managed to sell most of the ones you’re not keeping. Finding that you still get along with most of your collection is also a successful outcome in my book!
