To my beloved scent, Hongkong Oolong,
I now have to say, “Fare thee well! So long!”
You were special, limited edition.
I first met you with some hesitation,
Worried I’d dislike your cardamom note.
Instead, you taught me, as I later wrote,
That in fact I like this note, and it blends
So well with your tea and milk, like best friends.
Three and a half good years you and I shared.
You perfumed my skin, my pillow, my air…
Did I love you more because you were scarce?
I’ve contacted Nez so they are aware
Of how much I want to buy you again,
But my last spritz is where this story ends.
You’re nowhere to be found for sale online.
There’s no other with which you smell alike.
Unless I’m auspiciously proven wrong,
I shall miss you dearly, Hongkong Oolong.

Lovely poetic tribute, Nose Prose! This sounds like a very nice scent, and something I would have enjoyed. Nez release some great stuff. Who knows, perhaps they’ll bring it back sometime.

Thanks! I’ll keep trying scents that have similar listed notes and if I come across one that actually smells similar, I’m sure I’ll rave about it on here. Which Nez fragrance is your favorite?

I liked Folia which had a petrichor earthy accord, and Armoressence which was woody and leathery.

I vaguely remember Folia and it being very foresty. Adorem is also quite good, featuring vulcan incense.

I never tried Adorem, but heard good things.

Ahhh… the knowing loss is bittersweet. That final goodbye.
Yet worse is that careless “see you later”. Only to find your love has gone or worse, is changed forever & no longer loves your company

So true! Because I loved it for the scent and didn’t have a sentimental connection to it, I preferred to enjoy every last drop rather than keep dregs and risk having it go bad.

Thank you, Flaconneur. I thought the timing coincided well with the topic of your “Empty Handed” post, too.
