Today, March 21, is International Fragrance Day, and I tried taking a proper selfie but it just wasn’t looking right so I posed the crown-shaped bottle of Avon Cologne Royale Somewhere atop the crown motif of my perfume curio cabinet instead. I’m sure this juxtaposition could be interpreted in many ways and encourage you to take inspiration from unexpected visual metaphors in your own day-to-day lives.
If you encounter olfactory metaphors, even better and please feel free to share them as I’m not sure what they might smell like!

Hi Nose Prose, I’ve just discovered your blog while researching leather scents for a video… I love your mixing of poetry and perfumes, a link I also often think about when composing perfumes. I’ve just mentioned your piece “Leathers sniffing” in one of my posts on instagram on leather scents: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5DdmXPra_o/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Welcome, and thanks so much for the mention! I’m one of the rare holdouts from social media so don’t have an IG account, but was able to watch your video and enjoyed your take on leather perfumes. Bottega Veneta and Cuir d’Ange are ones I’ve wanted to try. My favorite “soft” leather fragrance so far is probably Galop.

Galop is beautiful, you are right….of course, as soon as you finish a list, you immediately think of 10 other scents you should have included! My list (cut short by IG, but now also on YouTube) also included Cuir de Chine by Les indemodables (Osmanthus centric) and Mont Narcisse by L’Artisan P. I think using animal-leaning floral notes is an interesting way to create an leather scent…

I agree—even though Cuir de Chine wasn’t for me and I haven’t smelled Mont Narcisse, I find leathery notes in osmanthus and narcissus absolutes.

If you were to look likely, there’s a reflection (probably of you) in the cap, so it does fit the purpose 😉

Happy Fragrance Day, Nose Prose. I’d forgotten about it, until Flaconneur’s post, and by then it was almost 530pm. But, like I said to him, every day is a fragrance day for people like us. I don’t think I’ve ever tried an Avon to be honest. I wore Malle’s Rose and Cuir.

Happy Fragrance Day! Sounds like you celebrated it in style with Rose et Cuir even though you forgot. 5:30 PM was still plenty of time before the end of the day! I think I’ve posted in the evenings on previous years. Also, you’re ahead of us as far as time zones go! Agree that every day is a fragrance day, as long as our noses are working!
