Perfumed Alphabet: U is for Undecavertol

Leaves fading slowly

Then fast, to watercolor

In the wishing pool

Undecavertol, as its name might suggest, is in the green (vert) fragrance family; but unlike the cut grass of hexenol-3-cis or the lush leaf of Stemone®, it’s very watery. It’s also fruity, but in a watery way—think prickly pears or carambolas (starfruits). The water seems a bit stagnant: this is certainly not an “aquatic” note of fresh ocean breeze. It’s meant to impart a character of lily-of-the-valley, but should be used in small doses, up to 5% in a perfume.
